Once the Domain Runner of the Detridust Desert, Canyons, and Caverns, the Detridust Dreadworm earned a reputation even amongst other Dwellers for breaking a substantial amount of Waking World souls over its long lifespan. It is one of the four main Dwellers that are credited with nearly wiping out all rift runes from the Waking dimension’s collective memory after the first End-All Incident. Unlike Domain Runners such as the Warden, the Detridust Dreadworm did not abduct or lure humans into its domain. Through reasons now forever lost to history, it became the fixation of one specific, large sect of the Chasm Cult/Cult of Chasm.

Cultists in this sect believe that the death of sensation via overstimulation is what leads to all answers of the Cosmos. The Afterlife, granted to every Waking World human in possession of an intact soul upon their natural death, is seen as a false promise in this sect’s eyes. It is only through breaking their souls in specific ways that these cultists believe they will reach enlightenment.

Those who fed themselves to the Detridust Dreadworm, according to the cryptid now in its place, achieved nothing but damning themselves out of their Afterlife. Broken souls simply cease to exist.

Along with its massive size, the Detridust Dreadworm worked like a hive, able to sustain the smaller copies of itself that’d leave its openings. Contrary to most other worm-like Dwellers that would merely eat what they find, the Detridust Dreadworm actively tortured anything it or its copies would “consume,” allowing various lines of teeth, smaller counterparts, and acids to slowly break the minds of its victims. According to the cryptid that took the Detridust Dreadworm’s place, the Dweller only allowed its prey to die when they grew numb to their own afflictions; this is what the worm’s worshippers (thought they) wanted.

The Detridust Dreadworm eventually grew bored of its existence. It reclassed into a Hijacker with little warning, and it hijacked the owner of the only gas station in the town of REDACTED: Tommy Juel, an old cultist who had crossed over to the Void with many other townsfolk around a year before the second End-All Incident.

The cryptid who exists in the Detridust Dreadworm’s place cannot make and sustain multiple copies of himself, but his more “monstrous” form closely resembles his old Void Dweller form… with the added ability of being able to manipulate his size.

The cryptid chose the name “Flint” for himself as an avid rock enthusiast, later picking the last name “Diesel” as well, and as homage to the human soul he hijacked. He also has a gasoline-drinking habit that he shows no want to quit.

The Detridust Dreadworm, seemingly coming out of a dark ceiling of rock. The worm has many small orifices from which smaller worms can wiggle out. Its main body has a gaping chasm of a mouth, and is lined with razor-sharp teeth.
